Southern Rifle Bag

This is a bag I finished a couple of nights ago.  I guess this is my idea of a southern bag.  It measures about 6" x 7", vegetable tanned cow hide, hand stitched with linen thread, forged buckle, and full length inside divider.  I gave it an aged look.  The buckle was forged by Curt Lyles, my smithing skills aren't quite there yet.  The pictures are somewhat washed out and don't reflect the true color of the bag as well as I would have liked.  We have 6" of snow down here in AL and we don't have a clue how to deal with it. :D

Really nice job, Greg. That has a great look and feel to it. I think it fits right into a rural, Southern Appalachian setting. The asymmetrical shape really adds to it, along with a your really good dye and shading job.

All it needs now is a little squirrel rifle and a small horn.

Thanks Jeff.  Nice to have a positive comment from a real bag maker.  Actually, I am going to use the little horn you made for me with it and I have a dandy iron mounted .32 that Curt Lyles made.  I worked a little yesterday on a ratty leather thong strap for the horn.  I put a strap on it last year, but wasn't satisfied with the look.  BTW, I been carrying your horn in the deer woods this year.

Great looking bag Greg.  I like the slight irregularity in the shape of the bag.  Sounds like the bag will go good with your horn and rife.

Great looking bag Greg.  I see you live in Sand Mountain.  I live in Owens Cross Roads.  We go about 8 1/2 inches of snow.  Too cold out to shoot, so I've been working on my bag.

Nice bag ! Whats the dimensions of that bullet board? I need to make me something on that line. You buy it or build it? It looks like maple.
