Do as you want, but an easier way of cutting round patches is with a hole saw blade with the teeth removed, and the edge sharpened, mounted in a drill press. You can fold the patch material to 8 or 10 layers, set it on a board. Then set another board over the cloth, having a hole in it large enough for the blade to clear. Hold the top board in place , just takes hand pressure, and with the blade turning, press it down mthrough the hole. It cuts easily, and you can get 8 to 10 patches per cycle. You can cut a few hundred patches in very short time. Just a suggestion.
