New Book, THE FRENCH TRADE GUN IN NORTH AMERICA 1662–1759
« on: January 25, 2011, 02:26:41 PM »
My friend in Canada has written this,I have been privileged to view it a couple times within the last year or so. It deals mainly with gun from St. Etienne. Lots  of good historical information, pictures :) and descriptions.

Kevin has done his homework and presented it all there for you to see.He is a very thorough individual and has devoted himself in his research more than I can say.If you ever meet him in person he shares whatever he knows freely, passionately.with out any kind of agenda or bias.

I have read sections of this book... it is exceptional in the author's use and mastery of primary sources. He's not only bi-lingual, he understands the archaic French of the original documents. All in all, this is a masterful piece of work.

And, in the interest of full disclosure, I work with the publisher although I had nothing to do with this project except to test-read some of the chapters,

Where did you order a copy from?  I have been trying to get 2 copies of this book to no avail.

Anne, welcome, but that post above is from 2011. The book seems to be out of print now.

About a year ago I decided that I should have this book.  I found a few copies available, but the prices were outrageous.  I called the publisher Andrew Mowbray Publishers, Inc. Woonsocket, RI  (401) 597-5055.  Mowbray still had a few new copies in stock.  A hundred bucks is not quite three times the original price, but then it depends on how bad you want the book.
