I've had the honor recently of refinishing a LePage for a guy and wanted to share a real fine rifle with everyone.

The finish was gone on the cheek side and a piece of the cheekpiece was chipped off.  I wet sanded the rest down to wood and used alcohol to wipe the rest off.  I think it must have been some type of linseed oil as it was very soft, 1000 hundred grit wet went right to the aqua fortis underneath.  After that burnished with jute and has about a dozen coats of chambers oil rubbed on.  Turned out pretty nice but when you start with such a great piece I can't take any credit.

Blackdog, what did Bruce use for the black background above the silver moon inlay?  Just curious.

Ive been scratching my head about that.  It looks like wood that is charred or inked black with the mmon inlayed in and then inlayed into the stock.  Just a guess, but it looks cool.

Perhaps, but the grain seems to be wider than ebony.
