think it is worth saving?
« on: February 03, 2011, 07:41:44 PM »
Here is a old fowler I found, and bought for parts,I thought the lock might be worth having. After no luck finding any info,I thought I might try to find a good barrel, and put it back into service, albeit somewhat limited.
Pleas see other post for what I need in barrel department, and some advice. Thanks,Dave

OK,since no one has any info on DB Richards, and no interest in buying it,how about we take another road?
All i need to make this a functioning old timer, cept some good sense, and even better whiskey,is a good, reliable barrel.
Needs to be 1" prefer round, from plug/hook breech/tang,to the end of stock-10".Length ok at 30-36".I know there are some good origionals out there,I just want to hold costs to minimumI also plan to do a wood underrib, but am just looking for a good barrel/breechplug now.
Any advice or pointers from y'all will be appreciated, and taken in good humor, maybe even with a snort of whiskey.
Thanks to all,Dave

Dave,
A little tough love for ya!!!  You're flogging a dead horse.
Put it on ebay and be thankful whatever you get for it.

Sorry

I have kinda felt that way from the beginning.I dont have much in it,several of my long time amigos in the m/l field actually trying to get me to get a good barrel and shoot it.Frankly I would a soon sell itI suppose without a barrel I could sell it on ebay.Thanks.Dave
