I do not claim to be an expert in determining the antique status of old hunting bags, but this one sure could go back to the percussion era.

Sitting here in a Starbucks reading this on my phone. I think I have convinced them that I don't need an ambulance for the latte that shot out my nose!

Joel, I don't think it's that old. I've got stuff I made back inthe 70s & 80s with as much wear. Might be from the "Disco" era. But I was wrong once before!

Naw...it aint Daniels..(or Fess's)...he actually hung his pouch off of his powder horn in some of the retro re-run episodes Ive been watching lately...Im surprised that didnt permenantly confuse as many folks as his playing both Davy and Daniel on screen did...

Joel, yer getting Winter punchy. This year you guys in TC seemed to get most of the snow while we're about 80 inches behind. Isn't it time for you to start planting, so the antique shops can restock, and the rest of us have a chance to check out the new inventory? I've got the BeeGee's greatest hits on 8 track if you want to trade for that pouch.

The capper hanging on the bag dates to the 1970's it is from The Hawken Shop as you can see, -- they made the capper, -- a nipple wrench w/ a pick that fit in the capper to form a T handle, -- a extension that screws on your ram rod for extra lenth, etc, etc, ---I still have mine, -- purchased when I purchased my brand new T.C. Hawken first one in my area,-- the muzzleloading shop had to order it, saw it in catalog before it hit the stores, -- I still own that rifle -- still in good shape, -- The Hawken Shop used to advertise in Muzzle Blasts when first opened, was in St. Louis untill it changed hands then moved to the northwest part of the country, --the bag looks like it might have been a prepunched kit, lacing only required with a few extras added, --- just my ole two cents Fred (ole baldy)

Thank you Fred for the info on the Hawken capper. I also have a nipple wrench T handle that has a built in nipple pick that came with the bag outfit. I do not know if it goes together with the capper. Kind of looks like a musket type wrench. The capper is a very good quality tool, very heavy duty compared to the stuff on the market today. I put a liberal coat of bag balm (lanolin) on the pouch this morning and hand rubbed it in. It really brought back the suppleness of the elk leather! The old bag is now ready to go to work!
