Metal finish.........

Howdy all
TVM is making me a rifle, thier version of an Early lancaster. I would like to have it pretty much P.C. [though I'm not totally anal about it]. So far i have told them I want a .45 cal. with a 42" straight barrel of 13/16" diameter. Large Siler lock in left handed.Wooden patch box, brass weeping heart with initials under the thumb on top of wrist along with an engraved brass fish on the cheek piece. Not sure on rear sight,I do want a Copper blade front sight on an iron base. [copper blades show up like they are lighted] I am also unsure about the metal finish...? Any suggestions, ideas, help appreciated.
Thanks......Macon

An early Lancaster would have a swamped barrel, wouldn't it?

I have an early Lancaster and it's barrel is straight octagonal and it doesn't look right.

It's a .45 with 7/8" bl.  It holds perfectly for an offhand or well off a log  for a chunk gun.  A 13/16" might be OK in a 42" for a .36 cal. .40 at largest, but would be pretty light in .45 for offhand shooting imho.

Barrel bright or browned.

For sure getting a 13/16" straight, they hold great and feel light and responsive.I always thought a 7/8" .45 looked rather chunky.......I had 2 Hatfields one with 13/16" and one with 7/8"...never did like the 7/8". I guess my question on metal finish was..........bright [or] browned?
Thanks.......Macon
