Mini Rifle machine

Had some time on my hands so put this wee rifler together
Me and machine.
Photo #3 is the indexing head with indexing for 7 grooves.

You really messed up.........it has a left hand twist.....will not shoot well in the northern hemisphere.............Don

I bet you can work up a good sweat cutting the rifling with it. That is a sweet little rig. You get a whole new appreciation for the work our fore fathers went through to make their rifles after using one of these machines. I have only had the pleasure of making a few passes on one of these in full size. I was impressed by how smoothly it did its work. What kind of a pattern can you shoot with it?

There is some truth to what Don says regarding the rotation of the earth in relation to what twist is your barrel!    I have rifled both left and right hand with no detectable difference between the two.    As I understand the problem it is more related to large artillery!  ;)  The principle will have no effect on our little "toy'" guns.    The English have been using lefthand rifling for hundreds of years in their small arms both military and sporting alike - no negative effect.  Anyway Greybeard you have made a great little rifling bench there - good luck!     Hugh Toenjes

What grade of tubing (for lack of a better term) did you use for the barrel?   ???

It is not made from tubeing. Drilled from a solid 1 inch piece of scrap that was in my scrap bin. Machined nicely.   Bob

That ain't about to happen, The one in the pics will eventually be turned down to 3/4 inch and be used as a sleeve in a chunk of brass. I have been kept busy makeing parts for a berks style gun ie. double lever set triggers, sights , thimbles and barrel lugs while awaiting the stock , barrel , lock , but plate and trigger guard from David.  B weight Colerain 38 + .50. This week I hope to have the lock  & tang bolts made.

No The one in the pics is not the one in the pistol. Pistol stays the same and the other barrel gets  used as a sleeve for a brass barrel.   Bob
