I dont have a lot of opertunities to handle original firearms,so I build as best I can from RCA 1&2 and Kindigs Thoughts. The thing I've noticed and am questioning is the use of slimmer barrels,less than 1" Most that have dimentions listed rarley have a barrel less than 1"yet I see a lot of "bench copies" use 13/16 or 7/8"s instead of the original size. Now this is for straight barrels. Swamped seem to be in the 1-1/16 to 1-1/8 at the breech.
I'm constantly trying to learn and this seems to be a sticky point for me. I'm planning a N. Hawk build in the near future and want it to be THE BEST I've done yet! Did he use a thin barrel?
