Banded Slate Powder Measure

I have been making small buttons and harts out of banded slate and got to thinking about making a few powder measures.  I am sure I could do it, but wondered if anyone has ever seen a powder measure made of this material?  I have three different colors to work with, and plan on making some for a few friends who have shared so much with me.  This stone is easy to work with a file, and a good piece of stone will have many alternating layers, making your finished pieces very interesting.  I have seen the ones made of antler, but were they ever cut from slate?
