Bison powderhorn, part 6, Second silver filligree band finished
« on: October 21, 2008, 05:25:50 PM »
I've just finished the second silver band on the horn. It's made the same as the first one (explained in "Bison powderhorn part 5). It was hard to get good pictures because of the glare from the silver. None of the silver is attached to the horn. Fitting the metal to the horn causes scratches and dings. When all the silverwork is done, the horn has to be re-polished before attaching the silver.

I plan to have 8 silver "tacks" around the base of the horn. Thats next weeks project.

Best regards

Wow! I may have missed something or do not remember have you fitted your base plug yet?

I'm going to make a two piece base plug. The inner plug is 3/4" ash plank and already installed. The outer plug isn't made jet. It's going to be black walnut with silver filigree banding around the side of the plug. I haven't decided if I'm going to use silver filigree on the top side of the plug, or if I'm going to inlay silverwire.
