I posted these earlier on the original post.  Not many looked at them, I think because the original string was so long.
SO, I just couldn't stand for her to go unnoticed.

I haven't held her yet, but here's some photos..... ain't she a beauty??

Man - just outstanding!  And I don't even particularly care for most Lehigh style rifles, but I love this one.

Great work by a great builder.

Hi Dane,
We are a lucky crowd to have makers like Allen working in our midst.  You have an incredible piece of functional art in your hands.  Thanks for the photos.

Dane, thanks so much for showing us your rifle...can't imagine how I missed the previous thread.

Allen has produced a wonderful example of a high end Leheigh rifle.  He has captured all of the flavour one could hope for.  Just splendid!!

smylee,
The barrel is a 48" .50cal custom barrel, made to the outside dimensions of the A.Rupp gun you see in RCA 1.  Lock is an A.Martin modified Siler, stock, Mr Martins, choice of nice Sugar Maple.  The design, architecture, hardware, pipes, all Mr Martin's.
I've been watching UPS since last Friday.  To say I'm excited, would be an extreme understatement.
The whole experience, in dealing with Allen, can only be exceeded by the absolute beauty of this gun.  He's a great guy, and as you can tell, and amazing artist.

I have no idea how I'm going to sleep for the next couple of days.
In His grip,

Dane

Dane, I well know your feeling of anticipation of the delivery of a new baby.  I'm also waiting on an Al Martin to arrive from the auction house.  My current Martin hasn't been out all winter, but tomorrow is looking good to make smoke with her.  They are things of beauty.  Have fun with her.

Serious envy going on here, both for the gun and the skill of the builder. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Verrrry Nice!  Two questions, first, how are you going to deal with the crowd of guys in ALR Tshirts crowded around your mailbox for the next week??   ;D

Second, and seriously, please tell us you're taking her in the field next fall, a gun that nice doesn't deserve to be relegated to the wall, she needs to draw blood on a nice buck.   ;)

Young Al is something else ;D

That finish is tops also. Dark in the low spots and lighter in the 'worn' spots.

Allen really hammers the Lehigh architecture. This gun looks so natural, so effortless, so unconstrained. Martin IS getting better as he gets older.

Still likes an occasional burger, too.

Dane,
You chose a very special builder in Allen Martin, and he surely succeeded in creating a great piece of longrifle artwork for you. You should justifiably be quite proud of this amazing Lehigh! It is all WOW.
