PB mark Italy ???

I have an Italian made 45 cal rifle with blackpowder only and Italy on the r-side of the 25 1/4 in. 7/8 in. barrel and an oval with PB in it and a small star on the left side. It is a well finished little gun but not a Beretta. Question is who made it?
Ideas anyone? I looked on the net and came up with nothing.

Are You sure the letters in the oval are not dp ? Not pb?
dp is mfg by Davide Pedersoli company in Italy! pb  ??? rings no bells!

Are you sure that it is not a Beretta ?  That would have been my inclination.
