Just started up on a set for my rifle I'm building.  Making all handles from deer antler and choosing to hand work them without any lathe use,... will probably make another set on the lathe,... just play back and forth.

(Don't mind the black ink,...layout via marker,...will come off with a little acetone)

Working up another powder horn as well,...

If you are trying to do a Tansel type fish mouth on the powder horn you posted a picture of, I would suggest that you elongate it just a bit more.  Carvings and such that look right when drawn on the surface tend to shorten up to the eye when you add the third dimension of depth.

If I might make a suggestion, try to keep the throat of the horn slender so it looks good with the whale mouth. You might make the onion at the tip a little smaller. keep it slender. Great work so far. Keep it up.

That looks like a small broad horn, be careful with your proportions.

In that case, even more so. These are about 14" over all.
