It took me 13 months once to get one. Ron Ehlert and I always rolled our eyes and had a good chuckle over it at Friendship. Good Luck!!

On March 21  @ 9;10 AM EST i called TRS & on my first try was able to talk to a very pleasant lady who took my order for a m1743 Marine Musket.I was flabbergasted that i got to talk to a live person :o
I was infformed that all my parts were in stock along with the euro. walnut upgrade & it would ship in 10 days or so.
I have not received my parts yet...... :'(..................
my getting through was probably the exception to the rule.

I’ve had pretty good luck contacting them by phone.  I’d say someone answers about half the time.  Parts on the other hand, have been a very mixed bag.  I’ve gotten parts from the in a few days (once) or many months (more often).

Tried calling twice this month.  Reached a nice lady 4/13/11 and placed a small order.  No parts yet, but usually you have to wait.

Maybe Ron Scott will chime in here. I think he has decent luck with them or he is a very patient man ;D

This is typical, but it could be worse- these parts and kits could be completely up to us to make them.

well I know at least one pattern that trs has came from an original that Ron has.   He is the one who told me to get their catalog. this wasn't meant to bad mouth them, I simply wanted to know if this was typical and if there were any more suppliers who deals with the same type of product line.....Phil

The "nice lady" took my number and said she would call me when the next catalog is available. I think that was in December.

I phoned twice to inquire about the status of a small order I faxed in mid-March. On the first call, two weeks ago, I got the voice mailbox. A little more than a week ago, a woman answered and said my order was on the shipping table, ready to go out. Have yet to receive it.
A colleague, who has purchased a lot from them over the years without difficulty, showed me his 7-year-old TRS catalog.  A very useful reference, if you can lay your hands on one.

Why do you guys do business with these people?
Do they stock products that no one else carries, or do you just like the frustration? :o

You put your finger on the reason. They produce products that no one else does. Take a look through their catalog or website. Yeah, I don't like the way they treat customers ( I once waited over 5 years for a set of sights) - But I suspect I will order from them again.

It sounds like there's no point in trying to get even a catalog!
To each his own, good luck.

not mine . In fact it did not get billed tell a couple days after  i  signed for the parts  and when the Catalog came  it was free

and yes , they carry items that few if any folks carry .
as such when i order from TRS i keep in mind that  i may eather end up making the part myself.

They suffer from their own ambition.  Nobody else would make molds for castings of so many gun parts.  Biggest in the world, so far as I know.  Everybody in the business knows how they work, so we have the choice to either be their customer or make their own parts.  Frustrating? Yes.  They are not the only ones in this cottage industry who are better at making great components than they are at customer service.   Just how it is and getting upset and hollering doesn't change things apparently, because folks have been doing that for years in regard to TRS, and things are still the same.

About 6 years ago I ordered a parts kit over the phone.  The charges appeared on my next credit card bill, a few months (and a few phone calls, unanswered) I sent a letter asking if they had the order straight and the kit came soon after that.

The kit sat in a closet until recently (another story).  When I finally got around to doing an inventory I found 1 fairly trivial part had not been sent with the kit.  Since I had waited so long to notice the deficit, I figured that it was my responsibility to buy the replacement part.  I contacted them again by phone and the part came in a few weeks.  They were also very helpful when I had some questions about assembly, asked over the phone.

I would order from them again, but I would try to not be in a hurry for the items ordered.

I must have gotten lucky.
Last Nov. I decided I might try one of their 'kits' and emailed about the availability of all of the parts in it. I wasn't interested in a backorder situation if everything wasn't in stock.
I got a responce back that afternoon stating all parts were in stock for that kit, and ready for immediate shipment along with the price(s).
I waited on it for a few more days thinking it over and I received a followup email every day from someone named Mike there about my inquiry.
I finally decided to go for it and called them. They answered the phone on the first try, rechecked and ackn. that the parts were in stock, so I bought it. The metal arrived in about 4 days. The wood came separately a couple days later.

No complaints on that one & only transaction,,, but from what I've heard before and after that from others, it is unusual.
...and like everything else,,it's not done yet!
