Spring Steel
« on: April 27, 2011, 01:15:18 AM »
A while back I suggested going to mcmasters.com for 1074/1075 spring steel.
Someone noted that McMaster's steel was Chinese, and provided the name of another source which sold American steel.
Forget who.

Anyone recall who the American steel source was?

I might be looking for some variety of materials which I sure would prefer did NOT come from Asia (I know Brownells now sells someunspecified grade of "spring steel". Years ago Brownells used to sell "Swedish Spring Steel", whatever it was I could readily cold-form 1/3 scale lock springs of it. Wonderful stuff to work with.)

Just got some from Brownells. They say it's 1095.  No spec sheet.
