Any words of advice on tear dropping the pan? Its broad already at the barrel and have heard some about pouring a liner and then tear dropping

I think he is asking if he can put a liner of some sort in the pan of his firelock to sort of funnel the flash toward the vent.  Probably has one of those English locks that has a flattend oval shape and wants it more tear drop shaped with the point of the tear leading toward the vent hole.  I don't know why....just trying to translate the post.  Please clarify cmac.  J.D.K.

Yes that exactly it. Have seen a few pans with this done and would like to try it. Don't know if it is necessary I have had many locks with a "straight pan" that work fine. Just curious I quess

If you follow Larry Pletcher's work with high speed camera's and flintlocks you should probably be more interested in a pan shape that piles the powder closer , toward the touch hole.
