Chambers fowlers
« on: April 29, 2011, 12:06:12 AM »
I love my 10 bore  N E fowler, but was thinking of something a bit lighter of bore for partridge and the smoothbore matches. I was going to order the Penn.fowler, but have been taken with the Officer's fusil.
A really heavy breach on it !  I'm wondering if anyone here has built one, and if so, how does it handle?
I'm leaning towards cherry for the stock.

I have built a bunch of them and they handle well. I probably have a couple finished ones pictured on my website.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Jim's officers fusil....my favorite.    I like it better than his standard fowler, feels "british"..........Don

They handle quite nicely and are the most authetic kit out there with regard to architecture and parts if you want a Georgian style English fowler.

I really like the looks of that fusil too.  I think it would be a great choice.
