Brown 'em on or off?

Referring to a fairly sizable inlay i.e. the long duck's head toeplate as on a Beck in iron, and after the pins or screws are set in:::: and surface filed flush....

After she is 'bedded' did you ever brown it (carefully of course with a small Q tip or do you yank it off the stock and reset it after the brown job is completed and B soda washed ???

Since I card all my browning/rust bluing with a wire wheel I remove all steel/iron for carding.  No matter how careful you are applying the solution I think you are going to get a small amount that will flow under the metal and continue to rust if not neutralized.  With that said I would "yank it off".
