More accurate questions might be:
How many have actually paper targeted their 'chosen' accuracy load from a bench?
How many have actually worked up an accuracy load by starting low and increasing the charge while testing, target after target and what was the most accurate load?
How many of the loads listed are merely a load chosen, sighted for and used?
I couldn't begin to shoot groups like it clusters unless it's off the bench, I'm not about to kid myself or anyone else about my abilitys.
I started at 35gr and worked up in 5gr increments. Used 7 or 8 different patch materials,,even tried a double patch before settling on the .020 denim. Tried a .495 ball but wouldn't group with any combination I tried.
Patch lube was anything from spit to commercial products,, home brew concoctions commonly listed,, to my final choice.
Tried different cadences of wiping between shots, not wiping, ramrod pressure, round patch, square patch, etc.
The whole process took from July till October of last year shooting once a week at my gunclub range.
It was a fun if not sometimes frustrating process but I wanted to know if the rifle really could shoot and not just make noise.
I did use up a small pile of old used targets I had saved from my .22cal Bulleye shooting days in the process. The RB punched a clean hole in those older heavy tagboard targets.
Now I have to get working and make another rifle.
