Who has or makes deep hole drills?

I need a 7/16" deep hole drill for my Hawken project.  I should have stuck with 3/8" (which I have), but didn't, thinking I had a 7/16".  Track advertises one, but I'm a little skittish about buying tools from them.  I could have the RR hole end milled, but I don't want to lose the wood.  Any bright ideas?

I have one from Track and  have drilled a dozen or so holes with no problem.I bought it about ten years ago so they might have changed since then.

Thanks Dennis & Bear.  If I can't find Dru Hedgecock, I'll go through Track.  He might make their's anyway.

Save shipping, buy the drill you want, and a piece of rod the same size at the local hardware, then take it to your local welder, and he can make it for you for $10 or $20 bucks max, unless he don't like you. ;D.  That's another story, shouldn't have insulted his dogs lineage.  You might even be able to wait for it if they're not busy.  I've had them made in a number of sizes that way.

I considered having one made that way, but I just got one from Dru for about as much as the welding & material would have cost me.  Plus, I had a really nice conversation with him which was free!

Use the 3/8 drill you have.  Pull it in and out a couple of extra times then take a slotted cleaning jig on a suitable length rod mounted in a 1/4 inch drill.  Use a thin strip of emory and gradually sand out the front end of the channel for about 8 inches.  Then taper the ramrod a bit.  You will be glad for the extra 1/32 between the barrel and ramrod channel at the back and tapered ramrods always go more easily in the thimbles.
