Maryland Pistol
« on: June 03, 2011, 09:50:14 PM »
Finally got this little project finished after a year and a half of picking away at it between other builds.  My version of a Maryland pistol, .50 smootbore Getz, small siler, stock kit-bashed from a York Firelocks kit.  First pistol I've done, comments and critiques welcome.

Osprey,
I like it.  Where did you see the trigger guard run all the way to the grip cap?  I'm asking because I did my pistol like that (though it isn't as nice a pistol as yours) and like it a lot, but I could never find an original that had done it that way.  Someone said there were fewer "rules" in pistol building, so I took that seriously (perhaps too much so), but I've always thought someone else must have done it!

bgf,

I saw pics of it done both ways, just like the way it's locked in place by the buttcap, looks cleaner than a wood screw.

Osprey, It looks terrific!!  I can't see anything to suggest. A very attractive weapon.

How about some top and bottom shots???   I am "picking away" on a bag handled pistol between other builds now so the picks would be helpful.

Very nice. The finish on the wood and metal looks good, tell us what you used.    AL

My only complaint is that you didn't build it for me.
