I want to fashion a more traditional Hawken-length toeplate for the GPR rebuild that I am doing and am wondering what stock material I need to get and where I can purchase it.
Many thanks,
Kevin

16 gauge (around a 1/16") steel sheet from Lowe's (marked "weldable metal", i.e., not plated) or Tractor Supply, etc. They also have some thicker (hot-rolled) bar stock in different widths/thicknesses if you want it heavier than 16g.

1/16" thick mild steel is all you need. Actually, the toe plate that is on the GPR is quite Hawkenish, and of the right thickness..

Taylor I was thinking it was too short, but you would know much better than I, and if I don't have to make a new toeplate that is fine with me - there is still much work to do in other areas!

Lyman's GPR toeplate is certainly not too short to emulate those of Hawken make, and the finial is similar to theirs.
