I always understood that a spring needed to be really smooth on the surface in order to function without breaking. I see that yours is really pitted on the rounded end. will this work without breaking?

Sprężynę trzeba nauczyć się stroić, to znaczy wymusić na niej taką pracę aby podczas zmiany profilu pracowała równomiernie " mądrze" na swojej długości. Zwróć uwagę na głębokie podcięcia oraz wybrania w profilu sprężyny, porównaj je z drobnymi , mikroskopijnymi wżerami korozyjnymi!

Really cool photo sequences.

Not difficult to see why the wheellocks are so sure fire with such blunt 'stones. Of course, the notches surely help. The one Taylor built, has a smooth wheel for flints and seems to work as well with old, dull flints as it does with the notched wheel and pyrites.
