If one wished to study early thru say 3rd quarter 18th century firearms present in the Upper Great Lakes / NA French territories during such time period what reference materials (books, etc) would be most beneficial?

I know very little about this subject, but I think the TM Hamilton book - "Colonial Frontier Guns" gives a pretty good overview. It covers some early English and Dutch arms as well. It focuses on trade guns.
