Very nice work Bill, as always. I enjoy it when we have tasty bits to drool  over.  Are you having that trigger guard cast for you or is it one of Reave's? It is a very stylish piece being slim in the wrist and ample in the butt. Nice job on the Morgan bust as well. It doesn't look over done yet not caricature as some of the bust finials go.

B E A UTIFUL  BILL,

That is exactly the look I am looking for on my next build.  Only difference would be the lock and patchbox.

   I Love it.

I like the way the engraving just fits in with the sculpted architecture and beautiful carving.  It all fits to make a beautiful whole. and the patina ain't bad either!

The architecture is "sleek", especially the lock and wrist areas. Your choice of TG contributes a lot to these areas. One question, though....have looked at Virginia LRs in many references and none look as good as yours, architecturally  wise and the only other Virginia LRs w/ this similar "sleekness" are by Gussler. Where in Virginia was this style originally made  and did you have a "prototype" original as a reference? Perhaps I'm displaying my lack of knowledge asre Virginia LRs.....Fred

Where does one start except to say "OUTSTANDING HE SAID". The double set triggers and the patch box :o and the color are the special highlights for me personally. Thanks for sharing with us. Jim & Alyce.

Bill,

That is a beautiful gun!   I got a real chuckle out of the patchbox.  Not that it is bad,  just different.   Actually, before I read your post,  I thought it was George Washington.    In fact,  the whole gun shows a lot of creativity.   I am sure you had a lot of fun with it.   I am just disheartened that I didn't make the rifle;)

Your choice of lock, triggers, and trigger guard go a long way in achieving that slenderness. VERY nice.

That is just cool.  Bill - your "face" patchboxes are quite a trademark.

To me, I see a lot of the Adam Haymaker rifle in Bill's architecture on this one.  I would have to put that gun in the "sleek" category - massive but sleek.

Bill - if I am not mistaken is that guard a casting from the Brass Barrelled Rifle, but modified a bit?

Simply elegant in every way.  I love the color you achieved in the wood and I really love the fact that you browned the barrel and didn't try to achieve some worn, aged look (although it does have its place).  Tremendous job on everything.

Bill,

Great package as always; nothing out of place.  I like the subdued detail of the carving, and the patchbox is super.  I'm not just referring to the portrait finial, but the whole design, and Oh yeah, the finial does look darn good also.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! I'm no expert on anything on  muzzleloaders but I am an expert on what I like and I like this rifle A WHOLE LOT!!!!!!! It's slim and sleek and well thought out and I love it. If it doesn't follow a particular style that just tough!!!!!!! Someone should have made rifles like it in years gone by. Frank

Hi Bill,
You and Jim Kibler handle the lock and sideplate panels, and wrist sections of gunstocks better than anyone I have ever seen.  Beautiful, beautiful rifle!  It would be irresistable even if it had no inlays, no carving, and plain wood.

I was lucky enough to see this beautiful rifle at Dixon's.  The patch box is awesome, as is the rest of the rifle!  Thanks for the inspiration and photos, Bill.
