Repro 1800s blowing horn & strap
« on: September 25, 2011, 02:37:41 AM »
Hey all,
Just returned from deployment on leave and I finished a few projects that I thought to share.  This one is a blowing horn about 13 inches long.  It has an integral mouthpiece capped by a carved rope pattern.  The large section has a turned horn band and I put on a simple woven strap with leather hearts.  The strap was made for me by a friend's daughter and the hearts were the first leatherwork I have attempted.  The horn has a scrimshawed woodland scene that I saw on a similar horn.  I think it was added later on the original horn, but really liked it--so I kept the design.  I liked the design since it was simple.  Thanks,

Very sharp. I like it :)

Carl; The styling of the engraving on this horn equals the fine engraving of your map horn. The style of engraving of the hunting horn and overall workmanship is once again "OUTSTANDING". The horn band sets the tone for overall appearance for me. I sent you a personal message. Thanks for sharing. Jim & Alyce.

Very nice looking horn, I finger weave and inkle loom weave so naturally was also noticing the strap.
