Fowling piece question
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:47:15 AM »
Is the building of a fowling piece approached the same way as a longrifle? Dumb question I'm sure. I would just like to know if there are things that need to be done differently. Thanks, Jim

Your barrel being turned round for two thirds of its length will require care installing the tennons or loops.  Solder the forward loops rather than dovetailing them.  Same with the front sight.

The build is very much the same though.  Some parts are a different shape than a rifle, such as the trigger guard.  But inletting is inletting.

Good luck and have fun.
