Hi Fellows, This is a gun that has been consigned to me. I am not posting this gun to sell it here, I have been told by several, that when I get spectacular guns, that the fellows on this board have a wealth of knowledge and love to see them. The makers of guns like the one posted below, are the people who migrated to the US and build the Golden Age Kentuckies, that you fellows all love. Give me your thoughts: This gun has been in an antique shop on the wall for several years. That is all I know.
013-911-0845, Joseph Abbt Double Barrel Flint Wender Fine German Sporting Rifle, dating to the 1750's. With excellent raise carved sporting scenes carved into stock. Double over/under with wood along the sides of barrels, functional double set triggers, how often have you seen double set triggers on Flint Rifles. Crisp hammer fall, functional triggers, brass furniture. Tipped ramrod, with wooden patchbox, one barrel is rifled and one is smooth. Both about .50 caliber. A truly expertly made gun, in overall fine condition, a few old stress lines in stock that are now tight, slight play in swivel mechanism. Maker name and IOSEPH ABBT, on the bottom barrel it is marked: IN SAULGAU. The finest one of these I have seen. It has twist rifling, from what I remember, I do not have the gun here, it is still on the wall an antique shop.
