Building a Norwegian Jaeger Rifle 1803
« on: October 11, 2011, 07:19:22 PM »
Hi Folks!
I am starting building a replica of this nice gun. Lend me a original to copy, and I will use a original barrel which is reamed smooth. The barrel will be relined and rifled later ;) The stockwood is Birch, here is some photo of the start.

Yes- excellent build. Taylor should do likewise as he also has an original Jaeger worth copying and refurbishing as well.

I expect we'll both be watching your thread with interest, Runar

Runar I'm sure this is another one of your upcoming masterpieces in the works.  Not even going to change the channel on this one; as long as you keep posting the photos like you usually do I'll just kick back, pop some popcorn, and enjoy the show !!!   ;D

Many of them cried; "Me no Alamo - Me no Goliad", and for most of them these were the last words they spoke.

Very interesting build, but shouldnt this be moved to the over the fence section?

It's Norwegian not American.

With the jaeger being a precurser to the American longrifle I think it is appropriate here - my thoughts anyway.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Wolfe; Jaegers, as with other European firearms (wheelocks, matchlocks, etc.), have played a noteworthy significance to our national longrifle culture.  ;)

Understood, if you can make the parts yourself then you are much better off than suffering through a possible long wait.

As I said before, I am looking forward to seeing your progress. :)

Is there any way the you could post some pics of the ancient snaplock rifles that the hunters used? After all of your work on this one is complete naturally.

That trigger guard is a lot of work but you are doing it well. It even fits the inlet of the original as well. Good work on the ramrod pipes as well.

That is the one. A very nice snaplock she is, too.
Are there any plans or patterns for that lock?
