Any info on D newkirk Longrifle?

We have acquired a D Newkirk Longrifle,, it is in excellent condition  we have no info. on this gun,, or any idea of value,,,

I doubt that anyone here has heard of a D newkirk longrifle which is not all that unusual since there were so many makers that just made a few rifles. It would be almost impossible to tell you anything about it unless you could post photos. If you take some detailed photos of the rifle I feel sure that someone here will be able to give you an approximate age, general area and maybe other information regarding the rifle.

thank you, we will take some photos and attach,, hopefully someone can give us some info.  We did get the info as to where Daniel Newkirk was from and a time frame for the most part.

on the plate by the trigger there is a B G (cannot see in the photo-sorry for duplicate)
on the topside of the barrell between the site and the trigger is D Newkirk
the letters and the name are in cursive

From looking at your pictures Andy, about all I can add to your knowledge regarding the rifle is that it was built in the Bedford style or school of riflemaking. Every little bit helps........Joel

Guys, help me out. Is this a contemporary gun or antique? The pics are not very good but it looks old to me.

we know nothing about these rifles,, what is the difference between a antique and contemporary- I will see if I can post some clearer photos

It looks to be Bedford in style, the trigger guard doesn't fit the regular m.o.. Is it me or does the Lock look like it was originally flint?

An antique rifle normally refers to a muzzleloading gun made in the 18th/19th century when these type guns were the state of the art. Contempoary muzzleloaders would be ones made today back to the early 20th century, normally muzzleloaders made after breechloaders became the norm.

I have taken several more photos that show the gun a bit better.  the signature, muzzle, butt, etc..   there is a pin stripe down the muzzle, the line starts with a serpentine pattern than it becomes a straight line.
