John Shell of Kentucky

I'd like to thank Shelby Gallien for his great article in the November issue of Muzzle Blasts magazine. The article titled "John Shell, Legendary Kentucky Gunsmith: the Man and the Myth" sure adds a lot to the small tid-bits of information I have previously read  in Ned Roberts book "The Muzzleloading Caplock Rifle" and Henry Kauffman's "The Pennsylvania Kentucky Rifle". Another of history's larger than life characters put into the reality of scraping a life out of dirt and stone. A true "jack of all trades" and one just happens to have been a gunsmith. I look forward to part II of this story!! Shelby, do you have any photo's of any  J. Shell of Kentucky's rifles?  Thank you.........Joel

Joel, I have not seen the final printed article yet so you are a little ahead of me on this one, but it does have pictures of a John Shell rifle. You'll just have to wait for Part II! Thanks for the positive comments on the article.  Shelby Gallien
