Somerset County?
« on: November 28, 2011, 02:08:46 AM »
Here is a nice old original I picked up. I'm thinking Somerset Co. or close by. Any other thoughts?  One unusual thing is the straight rifling. I tried to get a picture of it.

Thanks for looking and your comments.

A late Chambersburg rifle is the best bet. Nice.

Box has a Beford look to it; could have been made there.

Nice rifle Nate! I'm sure a little research will find a likely maker.

Nord, Why does Whisker speak through you? Any reason he can't write to the forum in person?

Jim is no longer a member here. When he thinks he can help with some biographical information he asks myself or Nord to post it for him.He has always been very helpful with information even though he no longer posts personally.
