Need help

I started backwards "smokeless to BP" and now have reached the 175 year old mark on my guns.
I make all of my stocks and joined here to learn about stock making. Boy have I learned a lot, thanks to all who post their great works here.
I would like to learn to engrave and to do inlays ( wooden)!
Is there a book or tutorial that would get me started?
I need to start at the most basic level as I have never done it before.Tried checkering and have not the patience nor eyesight for it so engraving may be a little out of my league but the I think I can handle inlays if I start and learn the right way from the start.
Any help appreciated!
Jim

I got my start with a CD by Jack Brooks.
He has a touch with teaching. A great guy also. He has answered my questions without any complaints.
That is a good place to start with engraving. Inletting is also good to know. I got CDs by Jim Turpin.
Very imformative, and he uses simple tools and techniques.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
He has a lot of pictures and his CD is long.
Well worth it. I got both CDs.
A good place to start with basics.

The Meek book is really only helpful after you know how to engrave. It's not for beginners.
Neil Hartliep's book, now out of print, is really good. See if you can find that on ebay or ABE Book exchange.

Check Brownell's for the Hartliep book, they've had them in the recent past 2 years.
