Most of us do, Ezra.  My first glasses were progressives - perfectly useless for shooting sports, as the spot you look through is out of focus- totally.  I now have bifocals and they are excellent. I have the division between the reading area and the long distance set higher for work on the computer. At this stage, I have good focus from about 10" to 30" using the lower lense, then from the front sight to infinity with the long distance lense, which is used when aiming, of course. There is no good location for the rear sight, any more.

I have a partridge front sight and a rear sight to match,When you look down the barrel threw them you level the front sight with the top of the back and have even space on each side of the back sight. The front site is 1/8thick,it's very similar to using a peep site. It's still alittle fuzzy but the best  i've used so far.TC used to put them on the renegade's.

I have gone through this and had good results listening to Daryl.  I like to play with lever action rifles also and had to remodel rear sight on one of them.  Basically I filed it down so it could be sighted in and cut a very large U for a notch so that light can be seen around it.  For my squirrel rifle and ML deer rifle I use the "Express" sight.  I put them about 12" or so in front of the breech (normal position).  The fine sight I used to use have been replaced with larger front beads (on a deer rifle about 1/8 diameter) and as stated a much larger rear U.  A big probelm is the real fine sights that we used to use.  A silver blade is about the worst sight I can use and worthless to me.  I make my own front sights out of 1/16" flat stock and bend it over and solder it together.  That way I can have a "traditional" look and a sight I can see.  Mounting sights too far forward does detract from the aesthetics.
