Wanted to share this with the forum for a couple of weeks but since it was a christmas gift I had to wait until after the big day.  I did not measure this one but the picture of it in the white has a quarter for reference.  the fish is a Chinook Salmon with designs of the Pacific Northwest.  Made for Scott Morrison.  The base and top are of cherry.  Enjoy!

In the white after scrimshaw

Finished and aged

Very nice! And tiny too. I would point out that the Inuit do not live here in the Pacific NW.
It is more properly Tlinget or Haida, possibly Tsimshian, but not Inuit.

Actually, It is Northwest Coast Indian Art. Also the title of a book by Bill Holm. Bill is Curator Emeritus of Northwest Coast Indian Art at the Thomas Burke Memorial Washington State Museum and Professor Emeritus of art history at the University of Washington.
Great little container John. It was well worth the wait to see it here so it was a surprise to Scott.

I knew that I was going to get something good from John, but never could I imagine it would be this elegant little box. The quality and detail of his engraving and turnings is first rate and I'm proud to own something from his hand.  Thank you John!
