Banded Horn
« on: January 11, 2012, 05:23:18 PM »

The idea for this horn came from the horn on the bottom of page 39 in Grant’s Powder Horns and Their Architecture.
It is about 14” around the outside curve, the base is Cherry, hollowed out and held in place with 4 wooden pegs (tooth picks) that also secure the base band. The tip is two part Whitetail antler, the two parts are pinned with 4 wood pins (tooth picks again) and the tip is attached to the horn with 4 more. The rings were heated and pressed on than secured with 3 steel pins each (Half inch brads cut in half with the heads cut off)

Great horn, I really like the dark color...

Tim,
That is a really striking horn.  I like the contrast between the bands and the horn.
