Samuel Shuler (1799-1875). He lived in Liverpool, Perry county Pennsylvania from 1827 tell his death in1875. This rifle has a thirtyseven and one fourth inch barrel. The patch box release is a button in the toe plate.  It was purchased from the people who had the ninetynine year lease on the hunting cabin where it hung on the wall. There was no ramrod or hammer on the rifle . These were replaced . The rest is in as found condition including the nail for one of the barrel  keys.

JDM, what is the source for your information that Samuel moved to Perry County in 1827?  My research on the Shulers is ongoing.

Eric,  I got the information out of  Jim Whiskers book "Arms Makers Of Pennsylvania". Published in 1990.  There may be new info out there . I would love to here it.   JIM
