Pewter pouring demo at Fort Boonesborough

At the ALR gathering at Fort Boonesborough today, Charlie W gave a demo on pouring a pewter nose cap. I mocked up a fore-end with a short piece of barrel ahead of time and plugged the bore per Charlie's instructions. Today, Charlie cut the grooves and relief for the pewter and showed how he uses heavy paper, tape and modeling clay to contain the pour. Charlie said I get to file off the pewter! I will post final pictures later.
Charlie was too quick for me. I gave him the mocked up fore-end and went to get my camera. When I got back he already had the groooves cut and the fore-end wrapped!
The "fore-end" is in the vice.
The pot is made for pouring lead fishing sinkers. Worked pretty good for pewter!
The picture doesn't show it, but the pewter is still boiling.

I finally got some shop time today, so as promised here's Charlie's pewter pour filed down.
There are a couple of voids, but none show on the outside. They can be repaired.
