Carving & inletting tools - recommendations?

Hello folks, (still new here) I am looking for advice on a good set of entry level carving and inletting tools for my first build. I don't need the cheapest available but I also cannot afford $400 sets either. Can someone recommend a "short" list of what would be needed to see me through this project.
Thanks for any help...

I am new here myself, however, I would not buy a set of anything. Some of the tools in a set would most likely never get used (speaking from having been there years ago). I now buy or make what I need when I need it.

Guys if you click on the rifle logo above and go to the Gunbuilding link you will find all kinds of good help including a tool list.
Buy 2 or three good chisels, and get familiar with whats out there and the when you have a real need buy another..etc. so you don't end up with a bunch you never use.

Thanks for that link...I was trying to do a search on this topic but the # of threads that came up with those words was a bit daunting. That link answered a bunch of my questions...thanks again!

Another suggestion for chisels are the Brownells palm chisels
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=25795/Product/PALM-CHISELS
I have found these extremely handy for small inletting jobs along with a straight 1/8" and 1/4" straight chisels. Of course you will need some larger chisels and gouges for barrel channels, etc.

I started with a selection of palm chisels and now they are pretty much not used. Once I learned to use the mid length and full length chisels from Pfeil and their closest competitors the palms just haven't been called on for very much. This is just my experience and others may not be the same, but do try the longer stuff early before spending too much on the palms chisels.
