My new Andy Thomas rifle

This me getting my new rifle from Andy Thomas. I am really happy with his work. It is all but the lock and tg hand made. The barrel is an orignal that I found in an antique shop in Johnson City, the wood is a piece of walnut that came from an antique shop in Kentucky. the next link is of photos Andy put up. I hope you enjoy looking. It is my first custom longrifle. I am thrilled. Now just 1 more(don't tell my wife).

Terrific Ronnie!! Andy did a very nice job.. Tell us more about the barrel and what he did to refresh it etc.

Tim,

I found the barrel in an Antique Mall in Johnson City standing in a corner very cheap. I sent it to some who was going to try to refresh it for me but did not have time to do it, so he recommended Bobby Hoyt and it could not be refreshed, shot out .36. He honed it and rifled it .40, made sure it was straight and sent it back. I held on until Andy was ready to go to work. He filed it charcol blued it and all the furniture to match. Wallace Gussler had looked at the barrel in original condition and said that it was probably from the early 19th Century. So now I have a wrought iron hand forged barrel on a hand made rifle. Oh yes the rear sight is also original to the barrel, just cleaned up.

I am still smiling.
