I have been bitten by the bug to build a pistol to replace one that was stolen years ago---after I get the current project to the shooting stage. (Is a rifle you build for yourself ever done ?)
I have the barrel and lock lined up so far, maybe a trigger and have book-marked several sources of good wood.
I have been looking at the on line catalogue for the muzzleloaer equivalent of the "big box store" in moneysota and was surprised to see that they have a real paucity of pistol hardware with few butt-caps, trigger-guards, etc. when I built the earlier one I was able to get a grotesque buttcap, triggerguards, pistol size thimbles, scaled down ornate sideplates from the source
While I can file and polish reasonable well, my metal fabricating skills are poor so I leave that to those with more talent.
What other sources are out there for such stuff?
