Decembre first is St Éloi ( Eligius ) holiday .
St Éloi is the patron saint of smiths , gunsmiths , goldsmiths etc .
The gunsmith corporation of Montréal was probably the only guild ever in Nouvelle France
it had no rights , it was only a kind of social club with only five members.
It started in 1676 ,
In the morning the gunsmiths went to mass , drank wine , had dinner
drank wine , played cards adrank some more wine .
Each year , the holiday ended with a fight between two members
Simon Guillory and René Fézeret , somtimes both ended at the hospital .
After a few years , the authority décided to disolve the corporation .
