It's a 50 cal, 44", B profile Rice Barrel, stock is from Tiger Hunt. Lock is a Chambers deluxe siler.
I wish I was a better photographer,

My my, looks like you captured the "best of Beck" in one rifle! I really like what you have shown here. Can you give us a profile picture of her? Beck's are so nice to shoot. How do you like the light barrel? I have that same barrel in mine. Nice job.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Leatherbelly, The first photo is the best I can do for a profile. Like I said i'm a lousy photographer, half of the photos I took are blurry. I really like the B profile Rice barrel, It's about 1/2 pound lighter than the C profile. The trigger pull on this on is 13-1/2" that combined with the lighter barrel makes this a real steady off-hand rifle. I've built and sold a couple with this barrel in 42" and that holds even better.

I like it a lot! How did you achieve that beautiful stock color? Very nicely done!

Thanks, The stock color is Laurel Mtn. Forge Maple Stain on sugar maple, Wiped on with a small folded rag, I think that gives you more control. The stock finish is Chambers Traditional Oil Finish, about 6 coats applied a drop at a time. I think that it also adds to the color.

Thank you sir. I plan on keeping this one. I've built several over the last 6 years, all have new owners, each one gets a little better than the last one. I'm keeping the very first one I built in 2006 as a yardstick, so I can see my growth in this hobby, it's still a good rifle but not as pretty as this one, hopefully they will all get better.

You've done a great job on your rifle, especially if this is one of the first ten.  It is a pleasure to see your pics.  Nice job on the patch box too.

Thanks Taylor, This is my 10th rifle. It's gonna be a long time before I get to your level. I wish I'd started doing this when I was 30.

Your rifle is extraordinary!  The work is so detailed I have to say it's as good as anything I've seen before.  What a beautiful rifle!

Micah,

Outstanding work! Tell us please, how you finished the barrel.

Thanks

The barrel was kind of serindipity. I wanted it brown but the weather was so dry here that it didn't take, I put it in the bathroom to steam it and still no browning. Finally I decided to remove the brown and leave it steel and maybe brown when it got more humid. So steel wooled it all down, but the steel wool left some dark spots, I had an idea, I had an almost emty bottle of BC Brass Black, wiped it on the barrel with a rag, it blackened the barrel OK and when it dried I steel wooled it back and it left a somewhat aged looking grayish finish with no pitting that is still smooth so that I can brown it later when the weather is more cooperative. But I think it looks kinda good.
