Allen,
Please post more photos of the tang, wrist, and cheekside carving.  What I see is great and I'd like to see more.
Thanks for posting this rifle.

Allen, you really did a fine job on that rifle! Can't wait to see the completed rifle. Will be seeing you soon, as Dixon's is so close.

Show off.

Actually, having seen Mr. Martin's work in person, I can say that not only do his guns look good, they feel good too.  He does outstanding work, to say the least.
When a reenactor says "They didn't write everything down"   what that really means is: "I'm too lazy to look for documentation."

A Martin, that's one nice lookin' dirty ol' gun. Very, very nice.

Who does your carving for you? Or do you buy the stocks like that?

Holy cats !! I never would have thought this dang rifle has brought this much feedback ...... I thank all who responded and I won't answer all the questions now but I'll give a small description of the rifle and go from there !!

The rifle is based off of a few original Christian's Spring area guns with a little Al Martin kicked in ...... Acer I bought the carving at our local Town Tavern in Lewisburg ....... they were running a special !!

Getz barrel , 44-1/4" long heavy swamp in a .60 caliber ...
New Davis Colonial lock refiled a bit .....
Kick ass wood
Mark Wheland's & I , new brass castings .... hope to have available soon .... handmade small parts etc. etc.

The rifle is now in it's final stage and will be at the gunmakers fair & CLA show ....

Here are a few more pictures ....... thanks again for all the positive feedback ........ !!

God Bless !!

Allen M

Love the finish on the wood especially the contrast between the " worn" areas and the dark areas. Beautiful !!!

Allen, I will look forward to seeing it at CLA. .....   How much does it weigh??

I have a beautiful Black Walnut blank and a .58 cal Griffin Octagon to round 44" barrel that needs to become a rfle...Early Christian Springs has been suggested and I love the look of yours.... I would love to get your thoughts oon the idea.
Thanks for all the pictures... you call us all highter!
