Rit dye question for powder horn
« on: March 18, 2012, 01:13:09 AM »
Hello.... I have 3 boxes of Rit on hand.

Dark Brown
Sunshine Orange
Lemon Yellow

Would any of these colors or combo of these colors work for the body of my white horn?

Thanks

Sure, mix the whole package of yellow with maybe a tablespoon full of the orange.  If you want the horn more orange colored add a bit more orange.  You can use the brown, very sparingly, to tone down the yellow and orange colors.

You just have to experiment a little to get a color you like.

Do you have any black ink? If not, how bout black liqid shoe dye or liquid shoe polish? All three work fine. Barring that you could even crush up a bit of charcoal and mix a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol in it and use that. After you darken your scrim and it dries  then just use wax shoe polish over the horn,I use neutral color.
