Router bit for octagon barrels

Anyone have a source for a router bit to inlet a straight  octagon barrel?

I've tried the various "plunge" methods which are OK but slow.

The profile I would think would be a half octagon, likely needing multiple passes to get the correct depth, and a stock with a flat side parallel to the barrel channel

www.rockler.com/articles/router-bit-basics.cfm

Take a look at Rockler's catalogue (and there are a lot of other similar sellers out there).  They make all sorts of configurations and some outfits will custom grind one.
With the right bit and guide bars you could even do swamped barrels

If you can find a high carbon v router bit. You have it made just grind off the bottom of it to work the bottom flat. or under size it. When I did them this way I would hog out the center part to my finish depth With a straight cutter.  Then cut in the the sides
