Went to the range Sunday and my old buddy of 25 years Dwayne was there with one of his
rifles he built. I wanted to see how my New I-Pad I bought last Thursday night at midnight
from Walmart would do on pictures. Here is what I was able to take.

Good clarity...are they snipped frames from a video, or pics with a high speed frame advance like the old "motor drives" used to do

You know, Frizzen, that you can get a bullet drop calculator app for your iPad? The computer age meets the golden age. I was thinking of making a mount for my iPod for the side of my matchlock so I can do some precision shooting.

Great pics, by the way. I show ones like that to my friends and they are surprised at the size of the fireball we allow next to our faces.

Check out the color of his left hand in the middle picture as well as the " glow " to his face! Now that is a fireball. Nice pics!

Yes - really good pictures and good frame speed too. Separating out the frames, I found, had to be done on the computer before uploading them to photobucket as frames are lost (file size reduced) in the upload.

Hey Phil,
Great shots! I have an old iPad without the camera and have a few questions. Does the iPad say what the video frame rate is? Can the user control the frame rate? Looking at your shots, I may have to upgrade.

Pletch, The frame rate is 30 fps. It says it takes video in HD. I use a program on the Ipad to
capture a frame. All the video editing is done right on the I-pad. I will come over for a visit
in June and show you. No need for a computer.

It is the "new" I-pad. or 3rd gen. Program or Apps as they call them is Video-Pix.

I really like that aim and fire all day. I think his shoulder would get a little sore after all that firing. Where can I get one of those rifles. Look at the guy to the left, Really how long does it take to line up a shot.

I noticed in the film that the smoke from the pan flows over the gun and to the left, while the smoke from the main charge flows to the right. I suspect it is wind, but why do they not flow in the same direction?

I think the blast from the pan makes it appear that the smoke of the main charge is blowing to the right, when it is actually blowing straight out, or slightly left, same as the pan's ignition smoke.
