Rogers Rangers tumbler

This is probably my favorite I have done so far.  It is 2 3/4 inches tall, 1 3/4 across at the top, and 1 1/4 inch across at the bottom.  Roger's Rangers cipher on one side and personalization on the other.  aged with aquafortis.

And a pretty pic..notice the Kris Polizzi strap at the bottom right....to been seen in full on a horn post.

Nice work, love the color.  I am familiar with AquaFortis use on maple, but haven't tried it on horn.  What is your technique for horn?

I gove the horn a nice alcohol bath..either wipe it down or in this case soak for about 10 - 15 minutes and then air dry.  I then wipe on the aquafortis with a papertowel and let sit for about 10-15 minutes...then apply heat with a heat gun and repeat the process until desired darkness is acheived.  Magic maple stain works well too but both are acidic so a neutralizer is imperative.  Once neutralized...I then use a powdered tempera paint (black) and paste wax mix, applied and then heated and rubbed to an aged finish.  When you buff it out some will come offand some will stay giving it a real nice aged appearance.  On a cup I do not do the inside.  the inside is treated with a beargrease/beeswax mix and buffed smooth by hand.

Extra nice.  Great subject choice.  Great color..  was it for a customer?
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
