I love this rifle, and am planning on building a version of it next. I'm wondering if the Chambers
early ketland or perhaps even the new Davis lock would be appropriate for this gun. Just looking at the photos, I'm almost tempted to try the early germanic lock[ with alterations] since it looks like the plate has a fair amount of curve to it.  Opinions would be appreciated.

I think the Chambers early germanic lock is a good choice. The frizzen screw is not supported by a bridle as is the lock on RCA 18. On the subject of RCA 18, how would you build it with or without the stepped wrist that was at one time removed from the lower buttstock ?

I was planning on incorporating a stepped wrist. That's why I said " my version " of it

Your version is a good idea since exact copies , unless ypu have the original on hand, always end up falling short IMHO. I like Chambers locks, but any early Germanic lock is appropriate.
